Talking to Chiron

"Okay," Chiron says. "There's a fair chance that you are both children of Iris - the rainbow messenger of the gods."

"Your powers might be later in maturing," Chiron contemplates. "However, since you share the same mortal parent, it's more than likely that you also share the same godly parent as well."

"In the cabin circle," Chiron says. "There used to be twelve, but we've recently undergone expansion and you should find your cabin with the rest."

Chiron smiles warmly, but concern glitters in his eyes. "What's your name?" he asks cautiously, returning to his wheelchair form because he doesn't want to scare her. "Are you okay, child?"

"Of course," Chiron says, understanding why she was evidently uncomfortable. He wheels himself around to behind his desk, pulls open a drawer, and takes out her medication. "I seem to have Erik's in here as well," he says, sounding amused. He hands it to her, looking troubled. "Elsa, Daniel," he says, looking apologetic. "Would you excuse us for a moment?"

Chiron sighs. "Some people are just like that, Rayn. I don't know what more we can do about them, other than issue a final warning and then take direct action if the abuse continues. But that's not why you're crying - is it?" he asked shrewdly. "You're too strong for that."

Chiron passes her a tissue box. "Care to talk about it?" he asks gently. "Keeping it inside will only hurt all the more."

"What's he do?" Chiron asked, looking tense and worried.

Chiron looked relieved. "You mean Ryder then?" he asked. "Gods, don't tell anybody what I'm about to tell you, but that kid worries me. He's been gifted with too much power for his own good."

Chiron smiles. "That he is. He's pretty good at controlling his powers, but being a Titan child is lonely. That's why he tries to keep most people at an arms distance, though I suppose he's having a hard time of that with you. I don't think we was trying to be mean though," he said thoughtfully. "I'm sorry he scares you though. If you want, I can have a word with him and tell him to back off for a while."

Chiron isn't sure what to say to this. He thinks for a moment before answering her. "I can understand how you might be attracted to him," he says. "I mean, he is very good-looking and he's a nice guy. Wait awhile though, and see. He might feel the same way for you."

"Rayn," Chiron said earnestly. "You mustn't think like that. It won't lead to any good and you know that we'd all miss you. Give the lad a chance. He's spent his entire life trying to avoid people and his sudden interest in you probably isn't just a spur of the moment kind of thing either."
