I run into my cabin, crying into my pillow for being called a freak.

Aria sighed and knocked on the door, hearing Gregor sobbing his heart out inside. She hadn't meant to make the guy cry. Gods, he was fifteen. He was supposed to be more mature than a whiny eleven year old. Heck, she'd half expected him to yell back at her. "Gregor?" she called.

"Go away!" I scream at her. "You're reminding me of school and my best friend!"

"Of school?" Aria asked, raising an eyebrow. "And no, Gregor. I'm not going." Her ears hurt slightly for being yelled at, but she expected it. It looked like he was having a tantrum.

"Everyone used to call me the freak from hell 'cause I was that awful to hang around. Even my best friend, Ben, did!" I snap at her, starting to toughen up.

"Hades, Gregor," said Aria, sighing in exasperation. "Is that why you're upset? You think I called you a freak? I said you were freaking me out - meaning that you were scaring me. I wasn't putting you down."

I calm down and say apologetically, "Sorry, it's just that not socializing for five years makes things kinda hard."

Aria took a step back. "Yeah, I noticed. Look here, Gregor. Instead of holing up in your cabin - why don't you go find some random demigods to hang out with?" Maybe he'd leave her alone then... and he'd get valuable experience from it into the bargain.

"What'd you mean?" Aria asked, extremely confused. "I'm fine. What're you talking about?" Gods, she'd never figure out what was going through his mind or understand half of what came out of his mouth.

"I've lived here for two years and no one ever liked me! Even you didn't like me at first... and I have no proof that you like me even now!" I say.

"That's partially because I can't understand a word you say," Aria said. "See here, Gregor. I don't mean to be rude - but you look fifteen but act eleven." She shrugged helplessly. "Just get out into the world a little bit and get to know the expectations. It shouldn't take to long to adjust and be accepted.

Aria felt herself freeze up. Oh gods, what now? "Yes?" she asked hesitantly.

"I have symptoms of Aspergers Syndrome... so that's why I struggle to socialize." I tell her, very seriously. "I get uncomfortable in big crowds too."

Aria took a moment to think about this information. "Isn't that an autism spectrum disorder?" she asked, cocking her head to one side. Well, that almost made sense because it was characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. Fun.

"No, it obviously isn't," Aria said. "Look, Gregor..." she started uncomfortably. "I don't know what happened between us on the quest, but I'm not going to hold you to any of it." She looked at him evenly, hoping that he'd understand her meaning.

"Okay." I sigh, close to tears; but, hiding it. I think is it is my problems kicking in.
