I walk over I open the package. I discover that it is a smaller replica of Hades' Helmet of Darkness.

Monica's eyes widened. The girl must be favored, but that wasn't up to her to decide that. "It came with this," she said, handing her the note. "Daughter of Hades?"

Monica took a step back, alarmed. She was gone. Night fluffed himself up and hissed from his place under the chair.

"Probably," Monica said, recovering quickly. "I would guess it is something Stygian. It looks exactly like the Helm of Darkness... so I would imagine the powers are similar."

"My dad's name was Andrew Fletcher," Monica replied dryly. "But he was struck by lightning when I was a kid." Night crept out from under the chair and lept onto the counter, purring softly and rubbing his head against her wrist comfortingly. She stroked him gratefully.

"Nyx," Monica said casually. "That's how this guy got his name." Night purred and flopped down, turning over so that he was belly up. With a sigh, Monica indulged him, stoking the soft fur on his underside.

"Well look at Blood, my hellhound. He has blood-red eyes, but he is a softie who loves playing with cats... though he is really protective!"

Monica nodded. Night curled into a tight ball around her forearm and started chewing on her thumb. Good thing the animal was adorable, otherwise she would have given him away. "Well, enjoy your gift," she said, her tone business-like. "If you ever need something, stop by."

That's not creepy at all, Monica thought. To Juliet, she said, "I have a store to run. Go poke around for a bit and you'll find other people."

Monica yawned slightly. She was getting bored of this job, but whatever. She'd told Chiron that she'd work here and that was that. There wasn't anyone to take over if she left, so that meant that she all but lived in the shop. Well, strickly speaking, she did live in the store... There was a little back room that she slept in. Occasionally, she'd leave to run down to the mess hall for a bite to eat, but it was here that she stayed.
